Who is the AYG?
The Australian Yeast Group (AYG) originated from national conferences in 2000 and 2002 titled 'Yeast: Products and Discovery' (YPD). These conferences emphasized yeast as a model organism for both fundamental research and industrial applications such as beer and winemaking. They attracted 50-60 yeast scientists from various sectors including academia, industry, and research institutes. Including colleagues from New Zealand, the group expanded to become the Australasian Yeast Group. The purpose of the group is to facilitate communication and collaboration among its members.
The AYG maintains an affiliation with the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) through the Yeast Special Interest Group. Please visit the ASBMB and the special interest group page for details.
