Yeast Biotech 2.0: New Yeast, Knowledge and Applications

ISSY 37, an event organised by the International Commission of Yeasts (ICY), was held at the National Wine Centre on the boundary of the picturesque Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Co-chaired by Professors Vladimir Jiranek (University of Adelaide) and Sakkie Pretorius (Macquarie University), the theme for ISSY37 was Yeast Biotech 2.0: New Yeast, Knowledge and Applications. The meeting brought together leading researchers, biotech executives, suppliers, government and early career researchers, whose activities span the spectrum of fundamental to applied investigations of yeast. The Australasian Yeast Group was proud to support this event.

The conference featured sessions on Yeast in Medicine, Bioprospecting and collections, New Knowledge via Yeast, Yeast Interactions and Microbiomes, The Yeast Bioeconomy, Yeast Cell Factories, Yeast in Food and Beverages, Yeast as a Source of Ingredients in Plant-based Foods, Genomics and Evolution, Designer Yeast and Yeast in Space.

The conference was sponsored by The University of Adelaide, Lallemand, Lesaffre, Coopers, Microbiogen, Fermentis and The ASBMB. The networking session sponsors were Main Sequence, Eden Brew, Nourish Ingredients, and CSIRO.
